  Quantum communication has absolute security features that traditional communication methods do not have. It not only has significant application value and prospects in information security fields such as national security and finance, but also gradually enters people's daily life.

  In order to let quantum communication go from theory to reality, since the 1990s, scientists at home and abroad have done a lot of research work. Since the researchers of IBM in the United States proposed quantum communication theory in 1993, the National Science Foundation and the National Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency have conducted in-depth research on this project. In 1999, the European Union concentrated its international efforts on quantum communication research and research. There are as many as 12 projects, and Japan’s Ministry of Posts regards quantum communications as a strategic project in the 21st century. my country has been engaged in research in the field of quantum optics since the 1980s. In recent years, the quantum research group of the University of Science and Technology of China has made outstanding achievements in quantum communication.

 In 2003, scholars from South Korea, China, Canada and other countries proposed the decoy quantum cryptography theory solution, which completely solved the problem that the security rate of quantum communication under the real system and the existing technology conditions seriously decreased with distance.

 In the summer of 2006, the Pan Jianwei group of professors from the University of Science and Technology of China, the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the United States, and the Joint Research Group of the University of Munich and Vienna University in Europe each independently implemented a decoy scheme, while achieving a decoy quantum quantum of more than 100 kilometers The key distribution experiment opened the door of quantum communication to applications.

 At the end of 2008, Pan Jianwei's scientific research team successfully developed a decoy-based optical fiber quantum communication prototype system, and successfully established the world's first 3-node chain optical quantum telephone network in Hefei, becoming an absolutely safe and practical quantum communication network reported internationally. One of the two teams of experimental research (the other group is the European Joint Experimental Team).

  In September 2009, Pan Jianwei's scientific research team built the world's first all-pass quantum communication network on the basis of the 3-node chain optical quantum telephone network and realized real-time voice quantum secret communication for the first time. This achievement ranks in the international advanced level among similar products, marking that China has met the industrialization requirements in the key technology of metropolitan quantum network.

  The all-pass quantum communication network is a 5-node star-shaped quantum communication network, which overcomes the instability of quantum signal transmission on commercial optical fiber and is the main technical obstacle to the practical use of quantum secret communication technology. Communicate without affecting each other. The distance between the users of this network can reach 20 kilometers, which can cover a medium-sized city; it accommodates two important quantum communication networking methods of interconnection and trusted relay, and realizes the communication authorization management of upper-level users to lower-level users.

  This achievement is the first to fully demonstrate and test the ability of quantum communication systems to network and expand, marking the maturity of large-scale scalable network quantum communication technology and pushing quantum communication practical and industrialization to a big step forward. Allegedly, the Pan Jianwei team will cooperate with the 38th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and other institutions to start a 40-node quantum communication network demonstration project in Hefei and surrounding areas to accumulate engineering experience for the large-scale application of quantum communication.
