EOC (Ethernet Over Cable) is an access technology based on the CATV coaxial cable network using the Ethernet protocol. The basic principle is to use specific media conversion technology (mainly including impedance conversion, balanced/unbalanced conversion, etc.) to transmit data signals that conform to the 802.3 series of standards through the home coaxial cable. This technology can make full use of the existing coaxial cable resources of the cable TV network to solve the problem of access to the last 100m. According to the different media conversion technology, EOC technology is divided into active EOC technology and passive EOC technology.

 Basic Information
EOC (Ethernet Over Cable) is an access technology based on the CATV coaxial cable network using the Ethernet protocol. The basic principle is to use specific media conversion technology (mainly including impedance conversion, balanced/unbalanced conversion, etc.) to transmit data signals that conform to the 802.3 series of standards through the home coaxial cable. This technology can make full use of the existing coaxial cable resources of the cable TV network to solve the problem of access to the last 100m. According to the different media conversion technology, EOC technology is divided into active EOC technology and passive EOC technology.

basic introduction
Passive EOC transmission technology uses the characteristics of cable television signal transmission in the frequency range of 111~860MHz, baseband data signal transmission in the frequency range of 0~20MHz, using two/four conversion, high/low pass filtering and other technologies to transform the TV signal The data signal is mapped to the home coaxial cable through the combiner and transmitted to the user's home. At the user end, the TV signal is separated from the data signal by a separator and transmitted to different terminals. The system can provide 10Mbit/s full-duplex bandwidth for each user. Passive EOC access technology has a small workload for the existing cable TV network system transformation, no need to add additional active equipment, easy installation and use, low operation and maintenance costs, and is an economical user access technology.

Active EOC is a user access technology that uses active equipment near the user corridor to combine cable television signals and digital signals into a coaxial cable network for transmission through QAM/FDQAM modulation and multi-carrier OFDM. Its main technologies include HiNOC (HighperformanceNetworkOverCoax), BIOC (BroadcastingandInteractivityOverCable), HomePNA (HomePhonelineNetworkAlliance), MOCA (MediaoverCoaxAlliance), etc. Although the modulation technologies and system principles adopted by these technologies are not the same, the network structure and construction requirements are basically similar. For ease of description, they are classified as active EOC access technologies. This type of technology can meet the bearer requirements of three-network convergence services such as video, voice, and data, and HiNOC is introduced here. HiNOC utilizes the coaxial cable of the cable television network to realize high-speed and high-quality multi-service access by adding related equipment such as HiNOCBridge (HB) and HiNOC Modem (HM). HiNOC uses the vacant frequency band above 860MHz to transmit data signals, uses the 16MHz frequency band as a data transmission channel, adopts the QAM modulation method, and can adaptively use the modulation technology from BPSK to 256QAM. The system consists of HiNOC head-end equipment and HM on the same channel. HiNOC technology supports the simultaneous construction of multiple independent distribution networks on multiple channels. The head-end device can be HB that supports only one channel, or HiNOCSwitch (HS) that supports integration of multiple channels.

advantage
EOC technology has the following advantages:

①The installation is simple, plug and play, rapid deployment, no need to rewiring, no need to disturb the people;

②At present, most EOC technologies can provide two-way bandwidth of more than 100M, and the anti-noise interference ability is much higher than that of CM, which can work in harsh network environments;

③Small size and light weight, suitable for installation in homes, corridors and communities;

④Safe and reliable, stable operation, economical and practical;

⑤The TV interface is compatible with all mainstream cable television equipment, such as splitters, televisions, optical transmitters, etc.;

⑥Data interface is compatible with all Ethernet devices, such as switches, routers, IP set-top boxes, PCs, etc.;

⑦Embedded embedded system, you can log in through http to perform various management settings, such as setting IP, password, etc.;

⑧Support full-duplex, half-duplex mode;

⑨Support 10/100M adaptive;

⑩Support IEEE802.310Base-T (Ethernet, 10Mbit/s); support IEEE802.3u100Base-TX (Fast Ethernet, 100Mbit/s).
