With the continuous upgrading and development of the network, the sales of optical modules are constantly rising, and various types of optical modules are emerging in an endless stream. Today I will introduce the most common 40G QSFP+ optical module MPO port and 10G SFP+ optical module LC port under the letter. Connection solutions, how to achieve network upgrade and replacement between different optical modules

▲Solution for direct connection of 40G QSFP+ and 10G SFP+ optical modules
When an 8-core MPO interface QSFP+ optical module is connected with 4 duplex LC interface optical modules, we need to use an 8-core MPO-LC duplex branch fiber jumper to connect. This is the AOC optical cable we use. This overall scheme is suitable for any connection of different lines in the same rack

▲ 40G QSFP+ and 10G SFP+ optical module interconnection solutions
The QSFP+ optical modules and SFP+ optical modules on both sides are connected to the MPO backbone fiber jumper and LC duplex fiber jumper respectively. Between the MPO backbone fiber jumper and the LC duplex fiber jumper, you need to use an optical fiber module box to complete the connection. This connection method allows equipment replacement at both ends of the fiber link.

The QSFP+ optical modules and SFP+ optical modules on both sides are connected to the MPO backbone fiber patch cords and MPO-LC branch fiber patch cords respectively. The MPO adapter panel strip is used for docking in the middle, and the MPO backbone optical cable is used as the link. However, since the SFP+ optical module ports must be located on the same chassis, the disadvantage of this method is the lack of flexibility on the SFP+ optical module side, that is, This connection scheme does not allow the replacement of optical fiber access equipment at the end of the SFP+ optical module.

▲ 40G QSFP+ and 10G SFP+ cross-connect solution
The connection is completed through MPO backbone fiber jumper, MPO-LC duplex fiber and LC duplex fiber jumper. The middle is bridged by the adapter panel and the module box, which can realize the connection between different long distances or different cabinets

The second type of cross-connection scheme is more complicated. In addition to the optical fiber equipment used in the first scheme, more modular boxes are used for connection. This cross-connection method is more suitable for applications with longer distances between the (optical cables) distribution range. At this time, it is necessary to ensure that the backbone optical cables of the splice tray are not damaged.

From this, we know that there are many ways to interconnect the MPO interface optical module and the LC interface optical module. The suitability depends on your equipment and cost.
