FTTH Outdoor Drop Cable for Last-Mile Access Networks

The fibers, 250µm, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP)/Steel wire locates in the center of core as a non-metallic strength member. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular core. After the cable core is filled with the filling compound to protect it from water ingress, the cable is completed with a PE sheath.

This FTTH outdoor drop cable is designed for fiber access routes connecting the outdoor distribution network to customer premises. The GJYXFCH configuration combines a compact 2.0 × 5.0 mm cable profile with a self-supporting structure for FTTH access, outdoor-to-indoor transitions and premises distribution.

The cable can be specified with G657A1, G657B or G652D fiber, together with steel wire, FRP or KFRP strength-member options according to the installation requirements of the access network.

GJYXFCH Self-Supporting FTTH Drop Cable

The GJYXFCH construction is intended for compact FTTH access cabling where mechanical reinforcement and convenient installation are required. Its flat drop-cable profile is suitable for the final connection between the fiber distribution side of the network and the subscriber premises.

Self-Supporting Structure for Outdoor FTTH Deployment

FTTH Drop Cable Termination at Customer Premises

At the subscriber end of an FTTH route, field termination can be completed with an SC/APC fast connector when the installation uses field-assembled termination.

The terminated fiber can then be presented at an FTTH wall plate as the subscriber-side fiber outlet before connection to the customer-premises optical equipment.

This makes the drop cable suitable for the complete final-access route from the outdoor distribution side through to the indoor FTTH termination point.
